Les's find from the Los Angeles Pottery Show, thrown by E.B Rogers in 1935, a nice folky vessel with beautiful tangerine & yellow glaze. Bringing the glow to our Macey case.

That'saNatzler

Beautiful Natzler piece at the Los Angeles Pottery Show today-6.5K out of reach. What I like about these kind of events is how generous vendors are with information, you learn a lot in a few hours-some familiar faces from the early morning flea shifts selling their finds too.

Event details here (today-Sun 24th is the last day).
*Thanks to Chris at Grain for the tip off.

The Point

Find a jar lid or tin about 75mm in diameter. Place it on the nose of the surfboard, on the deck. Draw a line around the front and cut off what sticks out the front. Round it off and put fibreglass over it. In collisions this will dissipate the energy of the impact over a much larger area, greatly reducing the chance of severe or critical injury. The board will surf better because you have reduced the swing weight and wind resistance. It is shorter, turns quicker, and pulls off moves you couldn't do before.

~~~
Inuit soapstone carving of a reclining (waving) seal by Qatjuayuk Atchealak, Cape Dorset with co-op tag attached. I'm normally not drawn to the Inuit animal carvings but this one seems so modern in its reduced form-the Brancusi effect. From fleabay with love.
David McGlashan
Heidi II, designed by David McGlashan as a residence & museum for John and Sunday Reed in Bulleen, Melbourne 1964. One of my favorite modern dwellings, the fireplace and matted wool cushions/carpeted nook has always reminded me of the corner reading nook in the Eames house.
