A Room Full of Jandek
The good folk at the Douglas Hyde Gallery in Dublin have just opened an exhibition of Jandek record sleeves (this blog takes it's name from the first Jandek album). Jandek has been self releasing his recordings on the Corwood Industries label for 20 years now. Photographing himself and his domestic/environmental details for the sleeves which have become a beautiful archive unto themselves. A publication with texts by Lars Iyer and John Hutchinson is available and for the superstitious Jandek will perform in the gallery on Friday the 13th!

I saw Jandek perform last year in a theater here in Portland, and he looked like William Burroughs had crawled from the grave and stayed on a cryptkeepers diet for three years. He then proceeded to blow the room back with 3 hours of guitar howls. We had the Jandek fever bad, after that one! I was lucky to see it...
(I love your blog, by the way.)
Ditto to seeing jandek play live, i saw him play in a church in London in 2005, dressed in black from hat to shoe, the first vocal he uttered was "i really shouldn't have come here tonight".The documentary 'jandek on Corwood' is worth a look too....cheers for comment.
