Hey there!
Have you checked out the ceramic work of Mata Ortiz, Chihuahua? Particularily the work of Juan Quezada, who seems to have pieced together an entire pottery history through experimentation and determination. He went onto teach the whole township his skills. The pots are pretty refined and have amazing decorative motifs that make my head ache just thinking about them! - I study ceramics/sculpture in auckland so a long way from Mexico and discovered the work through a publication put out by the Artes Mexico magazine. Definately worth a look...
