Navajo rug, hand spun and natural dyed yarn, trading post cotton warp and a flock of lazy lines & repairs. A beautiful beater-it's been around a while, from PCC last weekend. In house relatives.

Navajo blanket/poncho made from two narrow woven panels sewn together, natural carded/spun wool. Found at Ventura flea last month, directly opposite C street-can cause some priority dilemmas!. This Sunday Diggers.

Two-Two Grey Hills style Navajo rugs found at PCC this month, minor damage to the top smaller rug, the larger one being in great condition with a few minor (and dated) repairs. The Two Grey Hills regional style, using only natural wool carded and spun in different ratio's to produce, greys, browns, beige and white was promoted by JB Moore at his Crystal trading post in reaction to the color explosion in navajo weaving brought on by the introduction of German Town yarn and Analine dyes.

Crystal

Navajo blanket, Crystal, 1920's/30's-tight weave with repeated latch hook pattern, great condition with the red dye and natural blended beige and grey holding their color. From LBC last weekend.

LBC Tomorrow

Long Beach Flea tomorrow-Navajo saddle throw, 1940's-50's, thick/soft homespun wool-keeping my toes warm, from LBC last month.

Navajo reverse weave herringbone twill saddle blanket, German town wool early 20th century-possibly earlier due to the use of cotton warp thread. This is an eye dazzler of the more subtle kind with the change of direction creating the herringbone pattern, again some selvedge edge wear from use, but holding together due to the density of the weave. From Rose Bowl this weekend. Related piece over at AAPC.

Navajo blanket circa 1920's-30's, storm pattern/variation- lighter weave, homespun dyed wool judging by the variation in tone over color blocked areas. There is an attractive wonkiness-speed evident in how this piece has been woven with a design/construction trail easily followed. Some unravelling of the selvedge edge but otherwise in great condition-found at the Rose Bowl this weekend.

Navajo saddle blanket (or child's blanket) early 20th century, from PCC this month. The irregularity of the stripes, subtle variation in yarn dye and the density of the weave all contribute to the awesomeness of this piece. I also like the extent of lazy lines present given the small size of the blanket. I need to buy from more vendors who constantly refer to me as son.

Incredible Navajo blanket at the PCC-well outside the budget. Memory sticks are the new museums.

Yei Bi Chei

Hand woven 1930's/40's Navajo Yei textile depicting female figures (square heads) found at PCC this month. Beautiful colors and good condition, it's the first of these I've found for a reasonable price.
